St Enard (near Grenoble), February 2001

After a drive to the base of a hill, Theo Costi and I climbed this hill, on top of which are the remains of a fort. The views on the way are very scenic, but since this was winter, there is not much "greenery" on view here.

Cassis, Provence, June 2001

From near Cassis, a small town near Marseille, it is possible to hike along the "calanques" (inlets of water from the sea surrounded by tall cliffs) passing very scenic beaches on the way. Some people reach the beaches by boat, but walking is more fun, as Serge Florens showed me (he's quite familiar with the area).

Another interesting trek, of which unfortunately I have no pictures, was the "track trek" along the unused railway line from Donigal to Yedukumari, near Mangalore. There are several tunnels and several long bridges with spectacular views.
